What is collected

Your email address, only if you type it into the form. Nothing else is collected from you and nothing is collected from people who never sign up.

Alongside the address: the date you signed up, the date the welcome email went out, which of the weekly emails you have had, and a random token that makes your leave link work.

If you buy the guide: your address again, the order number from the payment provider, and a random token that opens your copy. Card details never reach this site. They go to the payment provider and stay there.

What is not collected

There is no analytics on this site. No Google Analytics, no pixel, no fingerprinting, no session recording.

There are no cookies for tracking. That is why there is no cookie banner, which is usually the first thing that makes a nervous visitor leave.

Videos on this site load nothing from YouTube until you press play. The still images are stored here.

Who else sees it

The email provider, because it has to deliver the email. The payment provider, if you buy something. The host that runs the site and its database. Nobody else. Your address is never sold, rented, swapped or handed to an advertiser.

Getting rid of it

Every email has a leave link. Clicking it stops the emails immediately.

If you want the record itself deleted rather than just switched off, reply to any email and say delete me. It will be done, and you will not be asked to explain.

Your rights

If you are in the EU or the UK you can ask for a copy of what is stored about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be erased. Reply to any email from this site and ask.

You can also complain to the data protection authority in the country you live in. That is always allowed and it does not have to go through me first.

Who is behind this

If you have a question about any of this, reply to any email from this site. It reaches a person.

The name or business name, the postal address, the country and, where they exist, the chamber of commerce number and the VAT number go here. This is required and it is the only place on the site where it belongs. It lives in the OWNER_LEGAL variable on Railway, one line per item separated by a vertical bar. Set it and this note is replaced, here and on the Dutch pages.
